2008 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
 “G’DAY FOR READING!”

FOR YOUNGER READERS!

(Kindergarten and younger)

~July 1st-August 1st~

                   Even though you are just starting to read, you can still join in the fun of the Summer Reading Program! This year the theme is all about Australia!!  We are looking forward to lots of fun, reading, activities, special programs and more fun!!  Here’s how it will work for you:

*       REGISTRATION WEEK will be Tues. June 16th- Sat., June 21st.
Children must come in with a Parent to register and pick up the SRP Start-up packet. We are here Tues.-Sat. during regular library hours.

*
Each week you will get a new Minute sheet with 15 min. blocks for each day of the week. You should read at least 15 min. a day and check off each block as you do.     Example:   15 Min.     You can read with someone and that will count. Bring the sheet  in with you each week.

*
You will have a Reading Log where we will keep track of the books you read. You may want to jot the titles down on the back of your minute sheet so you will remember them when you come in.

*
Be ready to share something about a book you have read. We can just chat, you can draw a picture, show me your book, bring something to show-whatever you’d like!

*
Each week that you do your Minute Sheet and Sharing, you will get a Reward Coupon!! These are prizes given at local stores for you!  Please note: Coupons do have an expiration date—please use promptly!

*
There are BONUS COUPONS if you finish the program and get your Reading Log and Certificate!  So be sure to finish!!

*
While you are here each week, there will be a quick craft or activity at our special table for you to have fun with and take home!

 You can come in to do your Minute Sheet and Reading Logs:
    Tues./Sat.   9:30-12:30        Wed.-Fri.    9:30-4:30

PLEASE NOTE:  We need to restrict our Tuesday Group activity time to Grades1-5 due to the number of children participating and the age range for those activities.
